It’s almost fall….but still summer. How to dress? Depending on where you live days can be pretty hot but evenings get really chilly so little white dresses are ready to go hibernate on shelves and hangers till next summer.
Even though autumn is clearly approaching, many of us are still not ready for sweaters, thick denim, sneakers and boots – we need a fall transition plan.
Some people are never cold, I’m sure each of you have one of these superhuman on your friends list:) That girl in a short backless dress that is sitting on a terrace with an ice margarita at 60F (15 degrees celsius for my dear Europeans) – I am not that girl. I am a girl who is cold as soon as the little wind blows which means layering is my philosophy.
Here is the list of my top 10 wardrobe must-haves for the fall transition:
- Open toe booties or open back booties
- A pair of universal black sandals
- Several light fabric dresses in fall colors, mid- length
- One camisole dress
- One pair of light denim
- A couple camisole tops
- Basic white tee + basic black tee
- Suede hat
- Black leather jacket
- Denim jacket
With all those elements present you never need to worry about what to wear as you can create a million combinations out of those 10 pieces: camisole over a white tee + jeans + open toe booties + leather jacket; light dress + black sandals + hat + leather or denim jacket, you can go creative and wear a camisole over a dress or dress over a tee and finish off with a jacket. You see what I mean – 10 items create 25 fall transition outfits.
My today’s look is a perfect example of a summer to fall transition outfit. The dress is made out of the lightest lace but the colors are saying ‘fall’ so it looks perfect with the green suede hat and black sandals. I could easily wear a pair of boots with that dress too and throw on a leather jacket or a denim one for the chilly evening. If it gets hot during the day though, this dress alone will be great as it is light as a feather and features a beautiful transparent back which makes it summery at the same time:)
I know it is a lot of information so I have worked on a little selection of items for you guys, I hope this will be of help to all of you who are planning your early fall wardrobes now!
