Hi guys, I know many of you have been following my travels around Italy on my Instagram but I felt like publishing a little diary on the blog to tell you a little more about Cinque Terre since it was the first time for me and I am in love.
Set amid some of the most dramatic coastal scenery on the planet, Cinque Terre is composed of five ingeniously constructed fishing villages which are a Unesco World Heritage site since 1997. The beauty of this place is incredible, I actually felt like I am on a different planet.
Cinque Terre is definitely a very different experience compared to other more traditional Italian seaside holidays. Its mostly about walking (a lot of walking!), visiting the villages, eating seafood and fish, drinking spritz and icy white wine and enjoy the scenery. If you are up for some beach chill – definitely go elsewhere:)
What I most loved about Cinque Terre was the absence of cars, pollution, rush and hectic crowds. Even though it was filled with tourists I still felt a very different rhythm of life that was very relaxing and helped put many things in perspective.
We stayed in a beautiful local apartment in Riomaggiore and took the ferry to visit other villages. At the end of the trip I came to a conclusion that Riomaggiore was my favorite village as it was big enough to have everything you need (including some of the best fish restaurants I have ever eaten at), but small enough not to be annoyed by too many tourists.
In my photo diary you will see some of my favorite outfits from the trip:) I went very colorful to compete with all the little village houses and stayed loyal to my favorite materials: silk, cotton and linen. Actually I took loads of shoes too but ended up wearing the same pair almost every day as I really underestimated how much walking we were going to do:) Advice for all of you darlings – go Birkenstock !
